Tax and Banking Secrecy in Israel

The Israeli Tax Authority is moving ahead with the battle against owners of unreported overseas bank accounts. In recent months, the Israel Tax Authority has been conducting a great and complex investigation into unreported overseas bank accounts held by Israelis in foreign banks, mostly in Swiss banks. The Israeli Tax Authority estimated that approximately NIS 50 billion is held in unreported overseas bank accounts by Israelis around the world. Israel - Exchange of Information on Bank Accounts



Israeli banks will exchange information on accounts held by foreign residents from EU countries, according to officials in the Ministry of finance. This new policy follows the practice already implemented by the Israeli banks regarding accounts held by US persons. The information that will be exchanged includes balances, deposits and income received on Israeli bank accounts.

Israel United States FATCA Agreement


Israel and the United States signed recently the FATCA Agreement that aims to improve international enforcement of taxes in relation to bank accounts, and for implementing provisions of the US Foreign Accounts Tax Compliance Act.
