Israeli Tax on Trusts


Following a major reform to Israeli tax law, a trust with a foreign settlor may be taxable in Israel if one of the beneficiaries is an Israeli tax resident. A new law passed by the Israeli parliament introduced the notions of Foreign Residents’ Trust and Israeli Resident Beneficiary Trust. These two will be discusses here.

Israel Malta Tax Treaty


The Israel Malta Tax Treaty became effective in Israel on January 1 2014. The full name of the treaty is – "The Convention between the Government of Malta and the Government of the State of Israel for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with respect to Taxes on Income".

Tax Settlement in Israel for Trusts




The Israeli Tax Authority published recently new guidelines offering special transitional arrangement to certain trusts that had previously been exempt from Israeli tax and became subject to tax from 1 January 2014. Trustees who wish to apply for the tax arrangement and pay limited tax to resolve the Israeli tax position of a trust must do so by 31 December 2014.

Olim and Senior Returning Residents- Israel Tax Update



The Israeli parliament approved a broad tax reform that will have an effect on the tax benefits granted to Senior Returning Residents (Toshav Hozer Vatik) and new immigrants (New Olim). These changes were implemented in Israeli tax law by the Law for the Change of National Priorities (Legislative Amendments for Achieving Budget Objectives for the Years 2013 and 2014). New law - Israeli Taxation of Trusts


New Israeli tax law proposes to tax any trust with an Israeli resident beneficiary. Such trust is called: Israeli Resident Beneficiary Trust. In addition, various changes are proposed in the new legislation to the Foreign Resident Settlor Trust. See:
